The Practitioners of Musick will present a chamber concert featuring the personal
musical favorites of a number of America’s “Founding Families”. This performance brings to life, in particular, repertory drawn from the private libraries of Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin and George and Martha Washington, offering a glimpse into the sophisticated sounds that filled their homes. A special highlight of the program will be music composed by Francis Hopkinson, one of New Jersey’s 5 Signers of the Declaration of Independence. Performed on period instruments, this concert provides an authentic 18th-century soundtrack to the America 250 celebrations. Music by the following esteemed masters will also be heard: Handel, Stanley, Boyce, and Arne.
The concert starting at 3pm takes place in the Historic Elks Lodge located at 116 High
Street, Mount Holly.
